Father of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Snr has said Stonebwoy overreacted when he pulled a gun at the 2019 VGMAs.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said his son had good intentions but because was misunderstood, the unruly behavior happened.
Narrating his side of the story, the father said his son stops up to come to sit by him at the event but on his way to sit with him, his followers asked him to go and congratulate Stonebwoy who received the Reggae dancehall artist of the year for a fifth time in a roll at the event.
He disclosed to the host his son had always communicated with him he wanted ways to resolve the differences between him and Sronebwoy.
He was also surprised Stonebwoy pulled a gun adding, my son and his followers had no weapon and so it was shock g for Stonebwoy to pull a gun.
Stonebwoy pulled a gun on stage whilst receiving the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the year at the 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The confusion started when Shatta Wale and his militants rushed onto the stage when Stonebwoy was about to receive his award.
Afraid of what could happen, Stonebwoy quickly pulled out a gun.
He has since apologized for his action and had this to say: “I am really sorry for the incident that happened earlier on and I only had to react out of natural instincts because we all know how premeditative some people can be,” Stonebwoy apologised after picking another award for best collaboration.
He added: “We’ve seen on social media the threats and everything so we couldn’t come in unprepared because anything could have happened like you guys saw.”
“I come in peace and I go in peace and I apologise to the whole masses of Ghana that the Awards is going to continue. Thank you very much for supporting my music, for supporting everybody else’s music…by their deeds we have all seen,” Stonebwoy said.
